The best meetings are always in the kitchen. They are the best because they are the most intimate and sincere. There are no unasked questions, but sometimes timid responses. In the kitchen people talk about life, about men who everywhere are the same, about dresses and love stories, also about unrequited loves. There are few cultural or religious differences. In Tajikistan there are two branches of Islam; Sunni and Ismailis. Ismailis inhabit the plains and northern parts of the country, Ismailis are in the Pamir Mountains and the southern region called Badakhshan. Tajiks get engaged at 18 and then marry two years later. It takes two years to prepare and organize a wedding.
